Yerevan is the largest administrative, economical, scientific and cultural center in the Republic of Armenia and the most important transport and transit regional junction. The specific weight of the capital in the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) of the country comprises 52%: here is concentrated almost half of the industrial capacity, 88% of constructions, 49% of production (including 61% of processing industry), 84% of retail sale is implemented, 91,1 % of public services volume including 89,9% of hotel services, 89,1% of transport services, 97,0% of financial activities, 87,0% of functions regarding real estate, 99% of services in the sphere of information technologies, 52% of export, 82% of import. 1 million 113 thousand people live in the capital and it comprises more than 34% of the population of the Republic of Armenia and 29% of the economically active population.
The economy of Yerevan is diversified: from agricultural production processing to information technologies. It serves a firm ground for the implementation of the program of marzes (provinces) diversification, which has an important state significance. In this conditions purposeful, new, planned reforms provided in our capital not only in the sphere of economy, but in all the spheres of public life gain a special significance.
