As of August 1, 2007 354
elevators out of 4261 existing in the elevator sector of Yerevan were
out of order, and the technical condition of the rest was
unsatisfactory. According to rules of operation of elevators, their
operation life is 25 years, and more than a half of the elevator sector
of the capital was obsolete, and the rest was dismantled and had
missing parts. In 1990’s more than 1000 specialists worked in the
sector of operation and maintenance of elevators, their number
decreased year after year, and last years the number of certified
specialists did not exceed 200.
In 2007 the RA government allocated AMD 3 billions for the elevator sector of Yerevan. The sum was provided to the City Hall of Yerevan. Repair works were carried out by “Yerverelak” CJSC and elevator maintenance services of quarter communities, and the control was executed by the Department of Communal Services of the City Hall of Yerevan. First of all, 38 elevators had to be changed by new ones: 3 in each of the communities Avan, Arabkir, Achapnyak and Malatya-Sebastia, 9 – in the community Kentron, 7 – in the community Shengavit, 9 – in the community Nor Nork, and 1 – in the community Davtashen.
The Department of Communal Services of the City Hall of Yerevan investigated technical conditions of all 4261 elevators and gave financial estimation.
2464 elevators were capitally repaired in the course of a year within the framework of the program of the City Hall for 2007-2009 for safe operation, capital repair and modernization of elevator systems of Yerevan, 271 of which – in Avan, 253 – in Arabkir, 133 – in Achapnyak, 379 – in Davtashen, 173 – in Erebyni, 303 – in Kentron, 457 – in Malatya-Sebastia, 250 – in Shengavit, 106 – in Kanaker-Zeytun, 6 – in Nubarashen.
As it was planned, the program implemented and accomplished within a year.
For ensuring maintenance of elevators, elevator maintenance services of quarter communities were assigned to develop a management system, and the company “Yerverelak” was instructed to conduct training courses for specialist of this sector.
