Sport

This subdivision involved in the staff of the Yerevan Municipality has the aim to assist the Mayor of Yerevan while carrying out his powers delegated by the Government and provided for the bodies of self –government in the sphere of sport and youth affairs. The functions of the division are grounded on the powers given to the Mayor of Yerevan by the RA legislation in the sphere of sport and youth affairs and are to promote their realization.


The division coordinates and controls the activities of sport schools, sport and culture centers subordinated to Yerevan community and of “Yerevan sport committee” community non-commercial organization. It organizes Yerevan tournaments in 25 kinds of sport, health, youth mass events, provides participation of Yerevan combined teams in republican and international sport competitions. In all Pan-Armenian games the combined teams of Yerevan participated with all staff and complete readiness, always occupy prize places in the annual republican tournament «Best sport family» for the prize of the President of the Republic of Armenia.


The division organizes the citywide yard festival  of the capital significance called "Healthy generation - protected homeland" for the challenge prize of the Mayor of Yerevan.


The sport events provided within the frames of "Erebuni-Yerevan" celebration are held with great inspiration, in the recent years they have been replenished with shows of aircraft-modeling and windsurfing in Azatutyan square and at Swan Lake correspondingly.


On the events of the state holidays of the RA health and fitness marches, callisthenics shows and other actions are held. At weekends complex health-improvement actions are held in the parks of the capital. The division cooperates with sports, youth NGOs as well as the ones engaged in the issues of disabled people. Every year in December, on the Day of Disabled People an exhibition of the works of creative disabled youth and a concert are held in the foyer of the City Hall of Yerevan and the participants are awarded by the Mayor of Yerevan. Besides that races and other sport events are held for people with disabilities.


In the recent years the division develops cooperation in the sphere of sport and youth affairs within the frames of the programs of the Municipality of Yerevan with the city authorities of Moscow, St. Petersburg arranging joint tournaments, master classes, discussions, round tables, meetings regarding voluntary movements, youth diplomacy development, the fundamental problems of youth and so on.
While organizing the events the division follows the calendar plan of mass, health-improvement, sport and youth measures of Yerevan confirmed by the Mayor of Yerevan.
