Armenian National Agrarian University



Armenian National Agrarian University, the only higher educational institute in the agrarian sphere in Armenia, celebrated the 80th anniversary of its foundation in 2010. In 1994, in result of unification of Armenian Agricultural and Yerevan Zootechnical Veterinary Institutes, Armenian Agricultural Academy was founded. It should be mentioned that since the day of foundation both Armenian Agricultural and Yerevan Zootechical Veterinary Institutes have played a great role in promoting and developing agrarian sphere in the RA, as well as in preparing skillful and professional specialists for former USS Republics. ANAU's educational system includes 7 faculties: Agronomy, Veterinary Medicine and Animal Husbandry, Farm Mechanization and Transport, Food Technology, Hydro Melioration, Land Tenure and Land Cadastre, Economics, Agribusiness and Marketing.

ANAU's governing bodies are: the Board of Trustees, Scientific Council and Rectorate. The self governing bodies are: the Student Council, Student Scientific Society, Trade Union organization and the Alumni association. Among local and international educational establishments the competent authority of the Agrarian University is ensured by the highly qualified faculty (out of 637 lecturers 64 are doctors and 310 - candidates of science). The Agrarian University being the unique state higher educational institution in the Republic is training skilled specialists in 36 fields according to three-level education system, which enables it to be integrated into the international educational system, by the Government Resolution N1597, adopted on January, 2005.

Department of Part-time Studies prepares specialists in 26 fields, including 6 - agribiology, 7- foodstuff technologies, 8 - economics of agrifood system, 5 - engineering in agrarian system.

University’s Zoological Museum is the best in the CIS. The ANAU museum’s collection is also valuable, which includes the university's rich documentary materials. "Balahovit" and "Voskehat" Teaching-experimental Farms’ Union currently has 1077 hectares of land, where students, masters, postgraduates and scientists carried out their educational and research projects .
