“Sourb Astvatsamayr” MC

“Sourb Astvatsamayr” MC is one of the largest medical unions of Yerevan and performs high medical aid to the population of not only the capital but also the whole country. The medical centre was founded in 2004  by the program of reformation of Health system in Armenia. The aim of the mentioned program is to  make the madical service available to the population.
“Sourb Astvatsamayr” MC includes the maternity hospital, 3 polyclinics, children's and adult's hospital.
For considerable investments in medical sphere “Surb  Astvatsamayr” MC was awarded with “Merkuri” prize of Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Armenia in November 2008.
The problem of the centre is to satisfy the population's health needs, to be the leader in serving high qualified medical aid using the  latest achievements of Health sphere, supporting the preparation of young professionals. Besides, it's aimed to raise the authority of med. workers among society by serving effective medical aid professionally and responsibly.
The spheres of the activity of MC are: women’s consultation, obstetrics-gynecology, new-borns’ pathology, general pediatrics, children’s gastroenterology, children’s neuropathology, adults’ neuropathology, reanimation and intensive therapy, children’s neurosurgery, children's and adults' traumatology and orthopedy, children's surgery,  new-borns' surgery, children's thoracal surgery, children’s maxillofacial surgery, endoscopic surgery, ENT diseases, general surgery, anesthesiology, diagnostic service (general clinical, bacteriological, biochemical, immune-chemical   laboratories, ultrasound, X-ray, including CAT (Computer-Aided Tomography) endoscopical (esophagogastroduodenoscopy, colonoscopy, hysteroscopy ) diagnostics).

It was founded in 1982, it's the biggest hospital in Armenia with its children's hospital beds. Adults’ stationary medical service has functioned here since 2004.
The following departments function in the hospital:

centre of children’s gastroenterology,

therapy and neuropathology,
reanimation and physiotherapy,
children’s neurosurgery,
traumatology and orthopedy,
children and new-born's surgery,
children's pulmonological surgery,
children's  maxillofacial surgery,
endoscopic surgery,
ENT,
general surgery department,
anesthesia and surgcal block,
diagnostic block (general clinical, biochemical, immunochemical laboratory, X-ray and instrumental diagnostics (duplex, triplex), endoscopic diagnostics, supersonic examination).


The polyclinics of “Sourb Astvatsamayr” MC serve 72.000 adults and 22.000 children living in south-eastern part of the capital. Those medical institutions provide gross capacity of  ambulatory-dispensar control and treat, preventive, sanitary-epidemic events and sanitary enlightening activity. Receptions are carried on by paticular specialists (therapeutist, cardiologist, infectionist, ENT specialist, gynecologist, urologist, surgeon, stomatologist, oncologist, dermatovenerologist, neuropathologist, etc.). The cabinets of laboratory service, ECG, X-ray, fluorography are in function. Reanimational treatment is done in the cabinets for physiotherapy, medmassage and medical physical training.

The maternity hospital of “Surb Astvatsamayr” MC has been in function since November 15, 1992, it was built by means of international charitable fund of ''Good will journalists to future Armenia'', which was founded during the years of the earthquake of Spitak.

The following departments function in the polyclinic:
women’s consultation,
obstetrics department,
neonatal,
pathology of pregnancy,
conservative and operative surgical gynecology.

In 1941-1945  the polyclinic “Arshakunyats” functioned as medical sanitary part, in 1945-1952 it was operated as hospital №5, in 1952-1980 – as the 5th medunion, and in 1980-2004 – as a polyclinic №18, and since 2004 up to now it's been the polyclinic Arshakunyats.
The medical institution serves 21831 adults and 6928 children. It includes the following departments and services: local therapeutic, local children’s department, women’s consultation, antituberculous service, clinical, biochemical, serological laboratories, X-ray, fluorography, sonography, ECG, bacteriological laboratory.

Specialized services are: endocrinologcal, oncological, dermatovenerological, surgical, ENT, ophthalmological, neurological, cardiological, infectious, phtisiatry, stomatological, physiotherapeutic, functional diagnostic.

It began its activity in 1967 named “Polyclinic №9 of Yerevan City Health Department”  in 2003 it was renamed. It serves about 21000population of Verin and Nerkin Charbakh and Aeratsia.

The main directions of the activity of the polyclinic are: therapeutical services (10 therapeutical sectors), surgical, ENT, endocrinological, ophthalmological, neuropathological, dermatovenereologic, stomatological, cardiological services. Clinical and biochemical laboratories, the cabinets of X-ray, fluorography, physiotherapy function in the polyclinic.
There is women’s consultation (two obstetricians-gynecologists) in the polyclinic.

Children and adults’ polyclinic Artashisyan was formed in the 1960s, it was a separate children’s polyclinic №3, and the one which served adults remained in the staff of the 6th hospital. In 1980s the children’s polyclinic joined the hospital of the Ambulance, and in 2004, when MC “Surb Astvatsamayr” was formed children and adults’ polyclinics “Artashisyan” were also included in its staff. The building conditions of medical institution are good enough – the therapeutists and pediatrists work two-shift  in separate cabinets.

It serves the population of 33.000adults and 15.155 children, it’s provided with the departments of registry and statistics. The following specialized services function: adults and children’s, surgical, neurological, cardiological, ophthalmological, cutaneous, endocrinological, stomatological, urological, gynecological – children’s and adults’. ECG and ultrasound services, immunological department  function in the polyclinic.
