Ensure proper conditions for inclusive primary education: Mayor visits kindergarten N92

Yerevan mayor Hayk Marutyan and the President of the RA NA Ara Babloyan visited the kindergarten N92 in Yerevan at the suggestion of the latter. The familiarized themselves with the conditions created for inclusive primary education. Today 42 children with light, medium and heavy problems who need special conditions attend 3 pre-inclusive and 6 inclusive groups functioning in the kindergarten. The children over 3 years old who are estimated by the physicians and pedagogical and psychological team to be ready to attend kindergartens are involved in inclusive (general) groups. And those children who can’t be included immediately taking into their special need are involved in pre-inclusive groups.  The kindergarten also has a rehabilitation center. A team of specialists work with the children: a psychologist, a speech therapist and a special teacher. Mayor Hayk Marutyan talked to the employees, familiarized themselves with the educational and rehabilitation programs. The persons in charge noted that lessons of painting, physical training, music and walk hours are spent by the children of pre-inclusive and inclusive groups together.

He NA President offered Yerevan Mayor to use this successful model of inclusive education in other administrative districts of the capital.  Stressing the necessity of proper conditions for getting inclusive education  Hayk Marutyan noted that the Municipality will study the offer and take steps with partner organizations to form similar  sectors in different administrative districts.

The program was implemented in the kindergarten N92 within the framework cooperation of Yerevan Municipality with the RA Ministry of Labour and Social Affairs, “Arabkir” medical complex, as well as “Chronimet” and “Arabkir” united children’s charity foundations.
