A new park instead of garages in Tumanyan quarter of Avan district

A new recreation zone has been put into service in Tumanyan quarter of Avan administrative district. Yerevan Mayor Hayk Marutyan was present at the opening event. The area of nearly 5000 sq m situated in the middle part of 15 blocks of flats has been well-arranged so all necessary conditions have been provided for proper rest. There used to be garages and land spots illegally occupied by residents in this area. After a number of negotiations the area has been returned to the community. Today this public area will serve for the recreation of nearly 2000 residents.

The Mayor got acquainted with the work done, talked to the residents.
Answering the journalists’ questions Mayor Hayk Marutyan expressed gratitude to the administration of Avan district and to all the residents who participated in the creation of the park.
“This approach should be used throughout Yerevan. All the areas occupied by illegal constructions should be returned to residents after being well-arranged”, said the Mayor.
The park was reconstructed due to savings. The cost of the project is AMD 15 million.
