Snow cleaning activities started in the administrative districts in the evening of January 13, as soon as it started snowing.
During the regular working meeting Mayor Hayk Marutyan was reported that snow cleaning would be continued in the secondary streets, sidewalks and yards after the snowfall stopped. Estimating the work done in that direction at night as satisfactory, the Mayor thanked the persons in charge. Hayk Marutyan also referred to the problems related to snow cleaning and traffic mainly mainly caused by the drivers using their cars without winter tyres.
“I was walking about the city throughout the night and I am aware of the problems occurred. I was also in Myasnikyan avenue where I watched the traffic and transport working. The cars with winter tyres moved without problems which can’t be said in relation to the cars with summer tyres. As a result, the whole street was blocked and the snow cleaning machinery was impossible to get to the spot appropriately. I ask our residents, I urge and demand- change the tyres of your cars. Using summer tyres in winter is unacceptable”, stressed the Mayor of the capital.
Mayor Marutyan also urged the representatives of the Road Police to take measures to carry out corresponding inspections.
The control over illegal street trade is going on and explanations are being carried out with citizens. The persons in charge of the Municipality received the citizens engaged in street trade and heard out their problems and remarks. Proposals for the arrangement of new mini-markets were presented as well. The Mayor was reported that the proposals made by the citizens will be take into consideration and if necessary the Municipality will show appropriate support.
In relation to the activities being carried out within the framework of the international loan programs the Mayor was reported that they are going on in accordance with the determined schedule. In particular, the construction of the road segment of Davtashen-Ashtarak is over. Within the scope of the program of the city lighting modernization, the contract for supply and installation of LED lighting system has been signed. The process of implementation of the program of energy efficiency increase in the capital is going on as scheduled. As a result, 29 municipal kindergartens will be overhauled and in 118 pre-schools energy appropriate measures will be taken towards energy efficiency increase.
