Yerevan Municipality came up with a special initiative for green zones preservation in the capital. After completion of improvement activities and asphalting in the segment of Buzand street from Mashtots avenue to Saryan street, special “green” road signs were placed so that the trees planted near the traffic areas won’t be damaged.
A heart-shaped tree is depicted on the road sign meaning “give a way” which warns and urges people to preserve and protect the nature.
Another similar sign was placed on the tree near Brazil square.
Light reflective signs will also provide safe traffic in the evenings. Such “green” signs will soon be placed in other places as well.
“Each tree is important for our city. We will put all efforts into preservation and protection of trees and green areas. This is the approach of the city authorities”, stressed the head of Yerevan Municipality Department of Nature Protection Khachik Hakobyan.
