The race starts in the area adjacent to the Matenadaran. The head of the Department of External Design and Advertisement Araz Baghdasaryan during the press-conference said that the route starts at the Matenadaran reaches the Erebuni museum. About 400 participants are going to take part in the cycling race organized on the event of opening the new route. At the end of the cycling race a show program is to be arranged at Azatutyan square, at 13.00. Professional cyclists from Moscow on the specially arranged platforms are going to show tricks on their BMX bicycles. The Mayor’s Assistant Samvel Mertarjyan noted that there was a cycling route opened in the capital before but the new one is the only one in the capital passing along busy streets. This way the bicycle becomes a usual transportation means. The route starts at the Matenadaran, goes along Mashtots avenue, Sayat-Nova, Teryan, Pushkin, Abovyan streets, Republic square, Vazgen Sargsyan street towards the administrative building of the Municipality of Yerevan, along Grigor Lusavorich and Khorenatsi streets to “Tashir” trade center then along Tagran Mets avenue reaches the railway station and along Arstakh and Erebuni streets reaches the reserve-museum “Erebuni”. The back route starts at “Erebuni” museum then passes along Azatamartikneri street to the administrative building of Erebuni district along Sasuntsi David street to the railway station, then along Tigran Mets avenue to “Ayrarat” cinema, along Khanjyan and Moskovyan streets to Mashtots avenue and the Matenadaran. The route also has tourist significance as it passes the central streets of the capital and gives the opportunity to see the sights of the city.

Having thanked the Municipality of Yerevan and personally Mayor Taron Margaryan for the support in the realization of joint projects the Manager general of “Coca-Cola Hellenik Armenia” Gagik Danielyan considered the opening of the route symbolic at the threshold of the city’s day and mentioned that one of the directions of “Coca-Cola” company is the propaganda of healthy lifestyle, so such projects can be continued in the future.
The organizers of the cycling route tried to make it as safe as possible. In some areas even the traffic lights are adapted for safe movement of cyclists.
