Yerevan Mayor Taron Margaryan visited the factory of handmade carpets “Megeryan carpet”. Accompanied by the president of the company Raffi Megeryan the Mayor walked about the premises and watched the process of carpet making. Presenting Taron Margaryan the activity of the company and the technology of making Armenian traditional handmade carpets the production general manager Leonid Andreasyan noted that the traditional style and designs of Armenian carpets are kept completely. Besides, it was noted that the carpets made at the factory are outstood with the richness of natural colours and the colours are made from flowers, roots of plants growing in Armenian Highlands as it was done centuries ago.

During the visit the artist- designer naira Mkhtaryan presented the Mayor the draft of creating the carpet “Erebuni-Yerevan 2800”. The start to the project was given with the direct participation of Mayor Taron Margaryan.
Expressing gratitude for the invitation and detailed introduction of the company's activity Taron Margaryan stressed the importance of keeping the traditions of Armenian carpet weaving and assured that within its powers Yerevan Municipality is always ready for cooperation. The Mayor also stressed the particular importance of creating the carpet “Erebuni-Yerevan 2800” as the initiative will become a nice present for the capital's jubilee.
“Yerevan is preparing for “Erebuni-Yerevan 2800” celebration with great responsibility. Before forming the state commission a working group has been formed in Yerevan Municipality which is engaged in preparations. On the event of the jubilee various actions well be held in the capital one of which is the creation of “Erebuni-Yerevan 2800” carpet which will find its place in Yerevan history Museum. In administrative district of Shengavit the construction of the bridge called “Erebuni-Yerevan 2800” has already been started. All our large-scale projects to be realized during these years we will dedicate to the 2800th jubilee of our Yerevan”, said the Mayor.
