With the aim of strengthening the ties between the army and the society and soldiers' encouragement, in accordance with the agreement between the Municipality of Yerevan and the Ministry of the NKR 100 more fixed-period servicemen got the opportunity to meet with their parents and relatives in Yerevan. This time the program included the servicemen from Kentron, Nork Marash, Ajapnyak and Davtashen districts. So, the program scheduled for this year was finished. Yerevan Mayor Taron Margaryan, the RA Minister of Defence Seiran Ohanyan and the NKR Minister of efence, Commaner in Chief of the NKR Army, lieutenant general Movses Hakobyan took part in the festive event organized in honour of the meeting of the servicemen with their parents. The ensemble "Aspet" of the Army of Defence of Karabakh performed at the concert, and the film "Army is our home" was watched within the frames of the event.
In his greeting speech, stressing the importance of the cooperation between the Municipality of Yerevan and the Ministries of Defence of the RA and NKR the Mayor of Yerevan pointed out that it was effective and successful. Taron Margaryan assured that within its powers the Municipality of Yerevan will always support the army, the servicemen an their parents.
"We are proud of having independent Armenia, a powerful army, it has been the dream of our ancestors and it is our today's reality and we are obliged to preserve it. As an Armenian and the Mayor of Yerevan I have always been and will be next to our army, servicemen and their parents. It is the second year thousands of parents of servicemen have got the opportunity to visit their sons in military units at least twice a year and to get acquainted with the conditions on spot. After the very first visit this program was accepted with great enthusiasm. And this fact became a stimulus for us to initiate another program during our meetings and discussions with the commandership of the Army of Defence of the NKR. The idea of the program is to encourage the outstanding soldiers with additional vacations. Due to these two programs the ties between the army and society becomes tighter and the trust in the forced arms increases. I assure you that we will do our best to make these ties stronger. I bow my head before our soldiers. Thank you for bringing up brave sons who defend our borders. Thank you, dear soldiers, that our borders are unapproachable. I wish you good service and assure that we will stay next to you and your families", stressed the Mayor of Yerevan. By the decision of the Mayor of Yerevan, for close cooperation and proper organization of the initiative «Army is our home, our fortress», the NKR Minister of Defence, the Commander of the NKR Army of Defence, lieutenant general Movses Hakobyan and the personal staff management deputy of the commander of the Army of Defence of Karabakh Vardan Balayan were awarded with Yerevan Mayor's Gold medals. For active participation in the events "Army is our home, our fortress" a number of servicemen were awarded with thanksgiving diplomas of the Mayor of Yerevan. By the order of the NKR Minister of Defence the parents of servicemen got thanksgiving diplomas and their sons were encouraged with 5-day vacation. TH NKR Minister of Defence Movses Hakobyan personally handed the diplomas and expressed gratitude to all the families for bringing up patriots. It should be noted that within the frames of this program aout 600 servicemen from all the administrative districts got the opportunity to arrive in Yerevan and rewarded 5-day vacation.
