Yerevan to stop shameful practice of slaughter of stray animals: Hayk Marutyan
Yerevan Mayor Hayk Marutyan was present at the opening event of the photo exhibition “Famous people for homeless animals” organized by “Pro Paws” organization functioning in Yerevan since 2011.
According to the Mayor of the capital, the new authorities of Yerevan undertake the responsibility to solve the problem of safe communication of people with animals. New approaches have been taken in this direction.
“I want to express my perturbation with the fact that to ensure comfort and safety of people the inhumane and ineffective practice of animals’ slaughter used to be adopted”, said the Mayor.
Stressing the importance of establishment of the cooperation between Yerevan Municipality and “Pro Paws” company Mayor Marutyan expressed confidence that it will be effective and will benefit natural and peaceful co-existence of people and animals.
“I officially claim: we have stopped the shameful practice of animals’ slaughter. We will do our best to make the city comfortable both for people and animals”, stressed the Mayor.
Within the scope of the event a Memorandum on Cooperation in the sphere of control over animals’ problems was signed between Yerevan Municipality and the British organization “Pro Paws”. The document provides for realization of the programs of pubic control over the sphere, working out of strategic and educational projects.
