Yerevan Mayor Hayk Marutyan who is in the capital of France at the behest of Paris Mayor Anne Hidalgo was present at the ceremony of opening “TUMO” center in Paris. Accompanied by his Paris colleague Yerevan Mayor toured about the center, familiarized himself with the conditions and possibilities created for young students.
In his speech addressed to those present Mayor Hayk Marutyan stressing the importance of friendly relationship between the two capital cities noted that Yerevan Municipality will go on and develop tight cooperation between Yerevan and Paris.
“It’s an honour for me that after my taking the office of Yerevan Mayor my first visit abroad is to Paris. Symbolizing the importance of friendly relationship between Paris and Yerevan, the stronghold of the cooperation between the two cities, as well as confirming my willingness to preserve, continue and develop the friendly relations I feel particularly proud and happy that this visit is held on such a wonderful occasion. Last week Yerevan was hosting the 17th Summit of Francophonie owing to which the attention of the world was drawn to Yerevan. I’d like to state with delight that our 2800-year-old city hosted the summit with honour and enriched its centuries-old history with another exceptional and beautiful event. Throughout the week Yerevan was celebrating Francophonie-our city was speaking, listening and living in French”, said Yerevan Mayor.

Stressing the importance of the activity of “TUMO” center in Paris Hayk Marutyan noted that it gives a wonderful opportunity to the young to express themselves and develop in digital world.
“I felt obliged to be present at the opening of “TUMO” –the first school of digital creations for youth in Paris as it is Yerevan’s contribution in Paris, the presence of the creative thinking of Yerevan and Armenia in Paris. Honourable Madam Mayor, in this regard I want to express my deepest gratitude to you for your willingness to open such a school in Paris after your official visit to Yerevan two years ago, when you were impressed and inspired visiting “TUMO” center in Yerevan. And you have made it come true in such a short time. You gave the youth the opportunity to express themselves and to succeed in digital world also promoting the evaluation of Yerevan and Armenia in one of the most beautiful cities of the world. I am so excited at the moment and I want to turn aside for the text a little. My grandfather was a professional translator from French, e translated Balzac, Romain Rolland, but, unfortunately, he couldn’t visit Paris at that time as it used to be forbidden and it is interesting that in his stories he often described Paris. And today I am sure that he sees Paris, this wonderful city with its wonderful people, splendid architecture and great culture with my eyes. I want to explain my happiness. My child attends “TUMO” center in Yerevan and I know how useful it is and how happy she feels there. And I am really glad that the children of Paris will feel the same delight”, stressed Hayk Marutyan.
In her speech Paris Mayor Anne Hidalgo said that two years ago, during her official visit to Yerevan she familiarized herself with the activity of “TUMO” center and was sure that Paris needs such a center which will become another symbol of Armenian-French multilateral cooperation.
