Vice Mayor Tigran Avinyan Meets UK Ambassador to Armenia John Gallagher

The issues related to public transport reforms in the capital were discussed during the meeting of Yerevan Deputy Mayor Tigran Avinyan with the Ambassador of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland to the Republic of Armenia H.E.Mr Jonh Gallagher. Referring to the projects being implemented within the frames of new reforms, Tigran Avinyan attached importance to the participation of private British companies in the programs.
According to the vice-mayor, all the programs are aimed at Yerevan’s transition to sustainable urban transport system and vehicles with zero emissions. To achieve this the city authorities outlined a firm direction to follow: community transport should always be a priority and maximally favourable conditions are to be provided in the city for public transport.
Particular importance was attached to the availability of British made filling infrastructures, transport fleet, capital and financial means to the Municipality of Yerevan. Special policy for experience exchange between the UK and Armenia should be worked out to benefit full adaptation of the new transport network and infrastructures to local conditions.
Expressing gratitude for cooperation willingness the UK Ambassador stressed that he is ready to support the community within his powers via involvement of experts of the sphere and large British companies.
The communicators also discussed the possibilities of the UK state establishment for export financing. It was arranged to study the possible fields of cooperation to develop joint projects.
