The international music academy “Yerevan” is going to be established in Yerevan. The academy will be the first and only one in Armenia. It will function in the building of the former “Kanaz” house of culture. The building was built in 1958 and has the status of a monument. It used to be closed for a few decades. At the beginning of this year, the Council of Elders decided to return it to Yerevan community.
Yerevan Mayor Tigran Avinyan visited that area, toured around, and discussed the project.
After the reconstruction, the music academy will have all modern facilities and infrastructures, a concert hall, and serve as an educational establishment corresponding to international requirements and standards, where 400 young students from different provinces of Armenia and other countries can get their musical education.
The international music academy to be founded in Yerevan is based on the progressive experience of Germany, France, USA, and Venezuela. The academy will have two main sections: for preschool age kids and for school age students.
The preschool section will admit kids of 2-6 years old, and specially trained specialists will work with them. Toy musical instruments will be purchased for them to arrange their study and games on musical subjects. The music school will provide education for students from 6 to 16 years old. In parallel with advanced curriculum, the students will be involved in various orchestras and music groups. The axis of the academy’s activity will be the “Yerevan” symphonic youth orchestra.
Branding and decoration of the academy will be fulfilled with th3e use of Yerevan concept: there will be rooms named after 12 capital cities. The interior design will have pictures and patterns related to the sights and symbols of Yerevan, as well as people who made significant contributions to the city’s development.
 Advanced teaching of foreign languages will be provided at the academy as well to ensure future musicians’ participation in the international events, and to make it easier for the graduates to arrange their further studies in prestigious establishments of the world with the support of the Municipality.
“Yerevan” international music academy is going to play an active role in cultural education, aesthetic upbringing, professional improvement.
