Tens of caves, which used to be settled beginning from the earliest periods of human history – the Early Stone Age- were discovered on the bank of the Hrazdan river in Yerevan. A rich collection of the Stone Age culture was discovered in the oldest cave of the city – “Yerevan-1” cave. More than 20 thousand tools made of various stones of different colours – chert, flint, basalt and jasper, as well as animals’ bones were discovered here. A skeleton of the cave settler relatively well-preserved was found in the cave as well. The archaeological samples are preserved in Yerevan History Museum.
