This week-end the capital is full of events: the 4th festival of traditional cuisine is held in Yerevan within the frames of the program of three-month events “Yerevan summer 2018”.

The best traditions of Yerevan cuisine are presented in accordance with the national calendar of feasts, and during the recent years a number of Yerevan restaurants present the modern culinary approaches in our city.
As this year all the events are held under the motto “Let’s celebrate together” and are dedicated to the 2800th anniversary of Yerevan foundation, 28 pavilions representing the restaurants, culinary colleges, NGOs as well as Yerevan History Museum, “Erebuni” historical and archaeological reserve-museum, “Megeryan” carpet museum were participating.
Numerous citizens and tourists were introduced such religious feasts with their traditional dishes as Navasard, Bun Barekendan, Surb Sargis, Ascension Day, Vardavar, Khachverats, Christmas, Palm Sunday, Tyarnyndaraj and so on.
All the participants were prepared well: the dishes were decorated and service in harmony with the feast, and they were ready to show their culinary skills on the spot presenting dished dedicated to the 2800th anniversary of Yerevan foundation.
Yerevan Mayor’s Assistant Maria Baraghamyan who coordinated the sphere of tourism, walking around the pavilions and expressing gratitude to all participants for taking active part in the event said,
“During the recent years Yerevan Municipality tourism unit adopted the policy of event tourism development, and “Yerevan with flair” is one of the city tourism fests representing the gastronomic potential of the capital.
Both our co-citizens and guests of the city get the opportunity to familiarize themselves on the spot with the best traditions of Armenian culinary, with the feasts and culture”.

The chairman of “Development and preservation of Armenian culinary traditions” NGO Sedrak Mamulyan in his turn noted that the festival had been organized for 10 years, however during the recent years, since it was included in “Yerevan summer” program of three-month events initiated by Yerevan Municipality, it has become more interesting and popular. “Cooperating with the Municipality tourism division we have made the festival more attractive for people. Some people come to Yerevan just to attend this fest. The number of participants is also increasing from year to year ad it’ very inspiring as the Armenian cuisine is diverse and is not discovered completely yet. So this fest is a good opportunity and platform. We have a lot to present to the world and Armenian cuisine is among those means via which it can be done”.
Since last year the culinary competitions has been held (last year the salad called “Yerevan” was created”), and this year the participating cooks were to make a new dish dedicated to Yerevan’s 2800th anniversary. The jury of the festival which consisted of Yerevan Mayor’s Assistant Maria Baraghamyan, the chairman of “Development and Preservation of Armenian culinary traditions “NGO Sedrak Mamulyan, the deputy chairman of the same organization Ruzanna Nahapetyan, the founder of “Yerevan Resto” website Harut Kirakosyan recognized best the dish made by “Vinograde wine” restaurant.
During the event a survey among visitors was traditionally held as a result of which “The most beautiful pavilion”. “The most delicious pavilion” and “The most hospitable” pavilions are chosen. Accordingly, “the best decorated pavilion” of the 4th “Yerevan with flair” festival was recognized the pavilion of “Old House” restaurant (“Hin tun”); in “The most delicious pavilion” nomination won “Dragon Garden” restaurant, and “The most hospitable pavilion” title was given to the pavilion of the Artisanry college N 9 representing Vardavar feast.
