A solemn event and a meeting of the commander of the 3rd army corps of the RA Ministry of Defence, Colonel Onik Gasparyan with the soldiers mobilized from Yerevan and their parents took place in the concert hall after “Arno Babajanyan” in the capital. At the event were also present 110 soldiers who were defending the north-eastern border of the republic in July and August when a number of incidents took place on the border between Armenia and Azerbaijan. These soldiers stood out with their brave actions and were rewarded with a short vacation. The Deputy Mayor of Yerevan David Ohanyan and the representatives of the Municipality staff were present at the event organized within the frames of cooperation of the Municipality of Yerevan with the RA Ministry of Defence. In his greeting speech on behalf of the Mayor of Yerevan Taron Margaryan Deputy Mayor David Ohanyan first of all commemorated the names of those soldiers who fell heroically and condoled with their families. The Deputy Mayor noted that the initiative of the Mayor of Yerevan within the scope of which parents visit their sons taking their military service in the border units will be continued. David Ohanyan assured that the Municipality of Yerevan will do its best to support strengthening the ties between the army and society. Colonel Onik Gasparyan in his speech expressed gratitude to Yerevan Mayor Taron Margaryan and the whole staff of the Municipality for the support, realization of various initiatives and joint p programs. Colonel also thanked the parents of the soldiers for bringing up brave sons and assured that each officer treats soldiers with parental care. The event included national song and dance, and military band performances. A documental film about the creation and the present day of the 3rd corps of the RA MD army was shown during the event and the parents of the soldiers were awarded with thanksgiving diplomas. The 3rd corps of the RA MD army was presented about 4000 pieces of fiction literature by the Municipality which are to be distributed to in the libraries of the regiment.
