Yerevan Mayor Taron Margaryan was present at the opening of the chess club after world chess double champion Tigran Petrosyan at National Polytechnic University of Armenia. The honour of solemn opening was given to Mayor Taron Margaryan and the Rector of Polytechnic University Vostanik Marukhyan. Expressing gratitude to Yerevan Mayor for the support in the club foundation the Rector said that the chess club is provided with all necessary equipment and proper conditions are provided for young chess lovers.
After the opening Mayor Taron Margaryan took part in the ceremony of awarding the scholarship after the RA Prime Minister, the graduate of this university Andranik Margaryan. The annual scholarship after Andranik Margaryan is given to the bachelor students who show the highest performance during the last 4 terms and social activity.
The student of the department of cybernetics Hasmik Khachtryan was handed the certificate by Mayor Taron Margaryan.
“As a member of the Margaryans family I'd like to express my gratitude to the Rector, to students and the faculty for carrying on this good tradition and for the tribute of respect to my father's memory”, said Yerevan Mayor.
