Yerevan Mayor Hayk Marutyan welcomed the newly-appointed Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Latvia to the Republic of Armenia H.E. Ingrida Levrence (residence is in Tbilisi). The Honorary Consul of Latvia to Armenia Armen Ghasaboghlyan was present at the meeting as well.
Mayor Hayk Marutyan congratulated the Ambassador on starting the diplomatic mission in Armenia and wished her fruitful work in the development of bilateral cooperation. The Mayor stressed that Riga, the capital of Latvia, and Yerevan are sister cities tied both with friendly relationship and further joint programs. Ambassador Levrence in her turn congratulated Hayk Marutyan on taking the Mayor’s office and stressed the significant potential for cooperation between the two countries. Ingrida Levrence also noted that in 2016 a square of Yerevan was opened in Riga and in a few months a store of goods from Riga is going to open in Yerevan within the scope of which a visit of the mayor of Riga to Yerevan is scheduled. The interlocutors expressed confidence that the visit will contribute to development of business ties between Yerevan and Riga.
