Yerevan Municipality jointly with “Arm Marathon” sport and educational foundation and “Coca-Cola Hellenic Armenia” company are going to hold “Yerevan Marathon” run dedicated to the 2800th anniversary of Yerevan foundation on October 21.
The derails of the event were presented at the press-conference by the head of Yerevan Municipality Department of Development and Investment Programs Tigran Sargsyan, the president of the Baord of Trusteed of ‘Arm Marathon” foundation Anahit Adamyan, the manager for public affairs and communication of “Coca-Cola Hellenic Armenia” company Alina Margaryan and the goodwill Ambassador of “Yerevan marathon”, the developer of “Run for Peace” program, French Armenian benefactor, runner Ara Khachaduryan, as well as the head of the Municipality sport division Yuri Mamikonyan.

“Yerevan Municipality traditionally holds this run. Howeve,r this year it will be special as it includes the track of 42.2 km giving the participants the opportunity to try themselves in the first full marathon to be organized in Armenia. Besides, the marathon is dedicated to the 2800th anniversary of Yerevan foundation which will certainly make the day unforgettable. The aim of the marathon is to popularize healthy lifestyle, promoting sport tourism development and to strengthen the ties with the Diaspora with the participation of professional and amateur sportsmen”, said Tigran Sargsyan.
“Coca-Cola Yerevan marathon” starts on October 21, at 08:00 at the square after S. Shahumyan and lasts till 14:30. Passing through Republic square, then along M. Nalbandyan, Vardanants, Al.Manukyan, Av. Isahakyan streets and Cascade complex the runners will continue the route towards Moskovyan, M. Saryan strets then along Leo, H. Paronyan, Dzorap streets (up to Davtashen bridge), along the Hrazdan gorge, Haghtanak bridge, Argishti street, Italy, V.Sargsyan, Kh.Abovyan, Al. Pushkin streets and finish the run where started. By the way, the marathon was measured by AIMS and got the international status.

“Marathon will have 5 distances: 42.2 km, 21.1 km, 11.5 km, 5 km and 1 km for runners of different age groups and physical abilities. In particular, children aged 7-12 will compete in the distance of 1 km, 13 years old and over will run the distance of 5 km, 16 years and older-11.5 km, and those of 18 years old and older will run 21.1 and 42,2 km”, said Anahit Adamyan.
It was said that some participation fee was set.

 42,2km – AMD 20000. 
In case of team registration discounts are possible for organizations and schools.
The participants won the first three prizes will get money prizes. Except for individuals, 5 team prizes have been set for “The biggest participant team”, “The biggest children’s team”, “The fastest team”, “ The fastest children’s team” and “The team with best supporters” nominations.
“Coca-Cola Hellenic Armenia” company always pays attention to sport events and supports various sport events worldwide. We also attach importance to the sport events held in Yerevan which unites people and makes them happy”, said Elina Margaryan.
It was also noted that the organizers provided free gyms where the participants can train.
The organizers informed that more than 200o runners from Armenia and abroad have applied for participation in the marathon. To participate one should check in following the link www.armeniamarathon.org.
“I have accepted the invitation to participate in the first Yerevan Marathon with pleasure. I believe that many young people will do their first step in sports due to this marathon”, said Ara Khachaduryan.
“Yerevan marathon” have always supported charity programs aimed at supporting families with disabled members, needy families, the development of educational programs. This is the reason why runners with disabilities will take part in 1 km-distance run”, said the head of sport division Yuri Mamikonyan.
