Within the frames of the citywide tree planting action Yerevan Mayor Taron Margaryan,together with the residents of the capital planted trees in Tigran the Great park in Nor Nork administrative district. The RA NA deputies Robert Sargsyan and Harutyun Karapoghosyan took part in the action as well. The park which was completely well-arranged in 2013 within the frames of Yerevan Municipality program,was replenished with new tres.
''Everyone remembers that a block of flats was going to be built in this park but Yerevan Municipality forbade the construction and we were able to well-arrange this zone to pass it to the residents. During today's tree planting nearly 800 trees are to be planted in this park. We will go on our work to preserve and expand green areas and to create new parks and squares, as well as to restore the rest of badly-arranged zones'', said Yerevan Mayor.
It should be noted that within the recent years Yerevan Municipality carried out consistent work to preserve and expand green areas as a result of which the surface of public green zones have increased by 35 hectares and currently makes up 862 hectares. Totally well-arranged parks and squares occupy nearly 215 hectares.
''During the recent years we carry out our program policy aimed at green areas expansion in the capital and creation of new green zones. In this context we organize citywide tree planting actions. As you know tree planting is carried out only in irrigated areas. The irrigation network is expanded from year to year too. The results are certainly satisfactory however there is still a lot to be done and within the coming 5 years the expansion of green areas in the capital will stay a priority task for us'',said Taron Margaryan.
Attaching particular importance to active participation of townspeople in the citywide tree planting and clean-up action Mayor Taron Margaryan expressed gratitude to all the citizens and organizations which once again prove that Yerean is our big home and everyone is ready to contribute to its improvement and development.
