Yerevan Mayor Taron Margaryan accompanied by his son little Mushegh solemnly lit the lights on the main New Year tree of the capital decorated with 32 thousand LED devices and 2600 toys placed in Republic square. With this the Mayor started the series of festive events in the capital. At the request of the children participating in the event Mayor Taron Margaryan walked to the main fir tree and help them hang the last toy. In parallel with turning on the lights the New Year trees in all administrative districts were lit too and the illumination of main and secondary streets including fountains was turned on. The event was accompanied by splendid fireworks and a festive concert. Popular Armenian singers and children's choirs greeted the residents of Yerevan and the guests of the capital. Answering the questions of the journalists Mayor Taron Margaryan noted that the Municipality of Yerevan has done its best to provide festive mood of the residents and the guests.
"We have officially announced the start of celebration. The Municipality has done everything to provide festive mood for the residents and the guests. Various events, performances, concerts are organized not only in Republic square but in all the administrative districts as well. In the context of proportional development of the capital preparations for the celebration were carried out in all districts", stressed the Mayor.
Congratulating everybody on the coming holiday Mayor Taron Margaryan urged them to be more active and take part in the events in person. "I just want to call all our residents, our guests to forget their everyday concerns and have fun. So let's bring in the year of 2015 with high mood and wish this year to be a year of peace, health,luck and happiness", said Taron Margaryan.
Then the Mayor walked about the park located between Nalbandyan and Hanrapetutyan streets in Main avenue and familiarized himself with the festive decorations.
