Yerevan Mayor Taron Margaryan met with the delegation headed by the President of the Congress of Local and Regional Authorities of the Council of Europe Gudrun Mosler Törnström. The delegation arrived in Yerevan to participate in the Forum “Outlook on future-new agenda for decentralization”.
Greeting the guests Mayor Taron Margaryan attached importance to holding the Forum in Yerevan and expressed confidence that the discussions organized within the scope of the Forum would become a good platform for opinions exchange.
“Yerevan Municipality highly appreciates the cooperation with the Congress of Local and Regional Authorities of the European Union and we confirm once again our readiness to fulfil joint programs. As you know, next year Yerevan is celebrating its 2800th anniversary of foundation. In this context we are going to offer the Congress of the Council of Europe to organize the joint expo “Old city,smart city” in 2018”,said the Mayor of Yerevan.
Expressing gratitude for warm welcome the President of the Congress of Local and Regional Authorities Gudrun Mosler Törnström in her turn attaching particular importance to holding the Forum in Yerevan noted that it was an excellent opportunity to summarize the results of 21-year activity of the system of local self-governance in Armenia and to plan further programs of reforms.
“Mister Mayor, we attach particular importance to your membership in the Congress of Local and Regional Authoirities of the Council of Europe. As regards the 2800th anniversary of Yerevan I’d like to outline that the respectable age of this city evidences that with its culture and achievements Yerevan is worth proper presentation worldwide. Be sure that we are ready to assist you in the organization and holding of the events within the scope of the jubilee year”, said Gudrun Mosler Törnström.
At the end of the meeting Mayor Taron Margaryan wished fruitful and effective work to the participants of the Forum.
