Yerevan Municipality jointly with the RA Ministry of Agriculture for the 8th year running organized the agricultural fair to work in Kasyan street on Saturdays and Sundays. Yerevan Mayor Taron Margaryan together with the RA Minister of Agriculture Arthur Khachatryan came to watch the conditions created in the fair and to communicate with the sellers of agricultural products as well as with the visitors of the market. The areas for trade are allotted by Yerevan Municipality to the producers of agricultural products from different districts of Armenia free of charge, and the pavilions,tents,scales and handcarts are provided by the RA Ministry of Agriculture.
Answering the journalist questions Mayor Taron Margaryan stressed that if necessary they will add the areas for agricultural markets in the capital take appropriate steps in cooperation with the Ministry of Agriculture.
“For the 8th year running, jointly with the Ministry of Agriculture we have organized season agricultural markets in Kasyan street to work on Saturdays and Sundays till the end of the year. From the very beginning our aim was to make it possible for farmers to sell their products in the capital without middlemen. Besides, this way we make it possible for townspeople to buy products directly from farmers at more available prices. I want to add that we are ready to discuss with the Ministry of Agriculture the issue of organizing similar markets in other areas of the capital if necessary and to allot appropriate areas with this aim”, said Mayor Taron Margaryan and added that during the recent few years Yerevan Municipality make it possible to organize mini-markets of agricultural products in all administrative districts as a result of which there are more than 30 such markets functioning in Yerevan. Yerevan Mayor and the RA Minister of Agriculture also bought some products.
