During the two-day seminar organized in Yerevan City Hall the mechanisms and events of the implementation Yerevan “Green city” action plan were discussed. Accordingly, the measures, challenges and best international experience provided for in the sphere of environment, transport, energy saving and energy efficiency, external lighting, industry, wastes management and land control were presented by the company “Ernst and Young” which worked out the program, by the representatives of partner organizations, foreign and local experts.

Greeting those present the head of Yerevan Municipality Department of Development and Investment Programs Tigran Sargsyan expressed gratitude to the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) for assisting Yerevan Municipality in working out the action plan of “Green city”. The head of the department outlined that the sphere middle-scale actions involved in “Green city” action plan are already presented in the draft of the five-year program of Yerevan development scheduled for 2018-2022, and the short-scale actions will be included in Yerevan development annual program. Tigran Sargsyan explained the successfulness of the program implementation by increasing the population awareness as well as by active involvement of the residents in concrete events.
The representative of the EBRD Rudik Tadevosyan in his turn noted that this program worked out for Yerevan is the first application of the EBRD “Green cities” initiative. He highly appreciated the basic data collection, study and work out activities carried out by Yerevan Municipality which were necessary for the program. It should be noted that the final 4th stage of Yerevan “Green city” actions plan provides monitoring, assessment of the results of already fulfilled activities and the progress made.
