The issues related to the inclusive education have been discussed

The issues related to the inclusive education were discussed during the meeting of Deputy Mayor Aram Sukiasyan with a group of experts of the sphere of education arrived from Estonia. The delegation consisted of eight specialists among which were representatives of the Ministry of Education and Foreign Affairs of Estonia and narrow specialists was headed by the director of «SOS children's villages» organization of Estonia Margus Oro.
Greeting the guests Deputy Mayor of Yerevan expressed hope that the visit and the anticipated training will be useful for the development of inclusive education in Yerevan schools. «Our concerns are similar. The Municipality of Yerevan in the person of the Department of Education promotes development of inclusive education which is of great significance for us therefore we are interested in your experience and proposals which are to be made during the discussions. We have recorded recent growth of participation of the children involved in inclusive education in cultural and sport events which is first of all has a psychological significance for them and this is one of the program initiatives of the Municipality», said Deputy Mayor of Yerevan Aram Sukiasyan.
The head of the Department of General Education of the Municipality Gayane Soghomonyan presented the current situation concerning inclusive education in the schools and kindergartens of the capital noting that social teachers have been employed in 44 schools and 6 kindergartens provided with the primary conditions for inclusive education; these schools have been provided with wheelchair access, and about 1600 children are rendered inclusive education in this schools. The head of the group of experts noted that their experience is based on the achievements of the European countries neighbouring Estonia in this sphere and has been adapted taking into account the unified system of education of the post Soviet period.
«We are going to share our experience how to create a system which will support each child individually contributing this way to improvement of inclusive education system in general», stressed Margus Oro. Among those countries which are interested in Estonia's experience in inclusive education are Georgia, Belarus, Ukraine. 30 Armenian specialists are to take part in the two-day seminars in Yerevan.
