On the initiative of Yerevan Mayor Taron Margaryan the first meeting of the coordination committee for the organization of the events dedicated to the 10th anniversary of the Armenian Genocide has taken place. The committee comprises of the deputy mayors of Yerevan, advisors, heads of the administrative districts, members of the Council of Elders, heads of the departments, directors of museums subordinated to the Municipality of Yerevan.
The agenda included the discussion of the actions to be held in the capital and dedicated to the event, the issue of formation a working group adjunct to the committee as well as other organizational issues.
"The presented programs are to be implemented and to work out the program completely we are going to convene regular meetings and conferences and hear out the proposals of the members of the committee. I consider the program to be complex and saturated with informative events. On the event of the 100th anniversary of the Genocide we have placed khachkars in some sister and partner cities; exhibitions are to be organized as well. Besides, Yerevan is to host guests form many countries and we are obliged to be prepared properly", said Yerevan Mayor Taron Margaryan and as the member of the headed by the RA President State Commission for coordination of the events urged everybody to take active part in the programs and initiatives of the committee. During the conference the staff of the working group was confirmed, besides other organizational issues were discussed. Mayor Taron Margaryan offered to present changes and alterations and additional proposals of the program to the working group within a month.
