The features of monument commemorating the victims of March 1 are gradually becoming more visible. Currently, sculptor Albert Vardanyan is working on the preliminary clay sample.
“After being processed in gypsum, the statue will go to the foundry in Yekaterinburg. The statue will be cast in bronze, there will also be some stone compositions”, said the sculptor.
The project is being implemented by initiative of the Government with state financing. A few months ago the Municipality of Yerevan held an open competition.
It is planned to install the monument in Surb Grigor Lusavorich street, in the middle part of the fence stretching from Beirut street to Zakyan street. At the upcoming meeting the Council of Elders will make the final decision.
The members of the Council watch the process of creation of the monument. The whole idea of the statue includes human searches, hopes, pain people felt during the March 1 event. The project has been approved not only by specialists but also by the relatives of the victims of March 1.
