Practical stage of transport system reformation program has started
The first meeting of the working group for transport system reformation was held in Yerevan City Hall. During the meeting the experts of consulting company presented the initial report on the program. The working group includes representatives of state bodies and interested NGOs. The head of the working group, Yerevan Deputy Mayor, said that the possibilities and feasibility of optimization of public transport had been assessed. The optimization supposes modeling of a new route network, installation of a unified electronic system of selling tickets and installation of new standards of management system.
All the materials of statistical research including the analysis of public opinion surveys and passenger flows of public transport of Yerevan were presented in the documents of the consulting company. Within a , month the members of the working group of experts will present their noted and suggestions concerning the plan presented. Afterwards the consulting group will work out the draft for the reforms which will be brought out to public discussions.
“We have been set a task-to carry out full reformation of public transport in the capital and to create appropriate conditions for movement of our residents. I should also note that within the frames of the process particular attention will be paid to providing proper conditions for movement of disabled people” ,stressed Vahe Nikoyan.
