The first meeting of 2015 of the Council for the Youth Issues adjunct to the Mayor of Yerevan took place in the Municipality of Yerevan. The meeting was conducted by Mayor Taron Margaryan. Greeting the members of the Council the Mayor first of all thanked them for active participation in the projects realized in 2014 in different spheres of urban economy stressing that the Municipality of Yerevan is always ready to hear out and discuss constructive proposals aimed at Yerevan development. “While forming the Council for Youth Issues in 2013 we were sure that with its activity it would contribute to proper organization and holding of various urban projects. Today it’s really delightful to state that the formation of the Council has been successful and the members of our Council are included in the programs being realized by the Municipality. I expect you to be more active in 2015 and to participate in all initiatives. I am confident that the staff of the Council will be increasing and the citizens who love Yerevan will become direct participant of the programs targeted at Yerevan development”, stressed Taron Margaryan.
Presenting the members of the Council his approaches in city management the Mayor particularly stressed the importance of targeted and effective using of the youth potential. “The young are the moving force of the society and together we must develop our Yerevan and find solutions to the problems of the capital”, said the Mayor. Taron Margaryan also heard out the issues raised by the members of the Council as well as the proposals made by them and introduced his approaches. Having thanked the Mayor for warm reception the young people in their turn noted that they took part in all city programs with great pleasure and the sense of responsibility. They also assured that they were ready to activate their cooperation with the Municipality of Yerevan noting that Mayor Taron Margaryan really appreciates the potential of the youth.
Within the scope of the meeting the annual report on the work performed by the Council in 2014 and on the activities scheduled for 2015 0was made. Taking into account that the day before the RA President Serzh Sargsyan announced the All Armenian Declaration the Mayor called the members of the Council to take active part in the events dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the Armenian Genocide.
For devoted activity and permanent participation in the programs of the capital a number of NGOs and students’ councils of universities were awarded with thanksgiving and honorary diplomas of the Mayor of Yerevan.
