The issues related to the improvement of urban infrastructures improvement and experience exchange in certain spheres were discussed during the meeting of the First Deputy Mayor of Yerevan Kamo Areyan with the delegation headed by the Deputy Leader of Kyrgyzstan Government delegation, Ambassador Sanjar Umetalinov The representatives of the Armenian office of the UN Development Program also took part in the meeting.
Greeting the guests Kamo Areyan particularly presented the programs implemented by Yerevan Municipality in collaboration with the UNDP Armenian office regarding application of new technologies, “Safe city” and “Smart city” conceptions, energy efficiency and climate changes and the programs scheduled for 2017.
“In particular, since 2014, within the frames of “Green city lighting” program, with the aim of modernization of the external lighting network of the capital,1000 lamps have been replaced with energy saving LED lamps as a result of which more than 67% energy saving was ensured. Due to these savings the program is being expanded from year to year. Within the frames of energy efficiency increase in buildings a building in the capital has been completely modernized. To provide the activities aimed at energy efficiency increase in public and residential buildings Yerevan Municipality jointly with UNDP and European Investment Bank is working out “The program of de-risking and scaling-up investments in energy efficiency modernization in buildings”, said Kamo Areyan.
The head of Kyrgyzstan Government delegation Sanjar Umetalinov expressed gratitude for the meeting and the information about urban infrastructures and noted that the experience of Yerevan in solving fundamental urban problems can serve a model and be useful for the capital of Kyrgyzstan-Bishkek.
The parties made an agreement to carry on the activities aimed at experience exchange and to develop bilateral cooperation.
