Within the frames of cooperation program between Yerevan and its sister cities the issues related to partner relationship and cooperation between administrative districts were discussed during the meeting of the head of the administrative district of Arabkir Hrayr Antonyan who was in St Petersburg with a working visit, with the head of St Petersburg Vasiliostrovski district Yulia Kiselyova. The RA Consul to St Petersburg Hrayr Karapetyan was also present at the meeting. The parties discussed the potential of partnership expansion between the districts and outlined the main spheres in which certain actions are to be taken. Hrayr Antonyan stressed that Yerevan Mayor Taron Margaryan attaches particular importance to similar meetings in the context of strengthening and expansion of partnership.
Within the frames of the meeting, by the initiative of Yerevan Mayor Taron Margaryan the ceremony of placement an Armenian khachkar was placed in the central part of Vasiliostrovski district. This is the first khachkar in the northern capital of the RF and as the participants of the event noted this place could become a special place for pilgrimage for the local Armenians. The honour of opening the khachkar was given to the head of Vasiliostrovski district Yulia Kiselyova and the head of Arabkir district Hrayr Antonyan. The RA Consul of RA in St Petersburg, representatives of Armenian community took part in the ceremony too. In accordance with the preliminary agreement, the park where the khachkar had been placed would be renamed Yerevan park and a monument to Komitas would be installed near the khachkar.
