5th Harvest festival to be held in Yerevan on September 15

On September 15, from 11 am till 5 pm the annual festival “Rural life and traditions” will be held in Yerevan for the 5th time. This year is held in Children’s park after Kirov.
The importance of harvest festival, the achievements of recent years, the peculiarities of this year’s festival and the expected events were presented during the press conference held in Children’s Park. The speakers were Yerevan Mayor’s Assistant coordinating the sphere of tourism Maria Baraghamyan, the founder of the festival, the president of “Green path” NGO Nune Sarukhanyan, the leader of Organic Agriculture Support Initiative (OASI) program of Austrian Development Agency David Mukenhuber and the UNO Fund for Gender Equality Portfolio Manager Mrs Rana El- Houjeiri.
Yerevan Mayor’s Assistant Maria Baraghamyan attached importance to the festival stressing that Yerevan Municipality has always supported the initiative of the festival organization.
“We are happy that “Rural life and traditions” annual festival has got its own place in Yerevan calendar of event festival and is expanding its geography from year to year. This year is a jubilee for Yerevan and I congratulate all of us on the events and particularly greet those who arrived to participate in Harvest Festival. The festival is a good platform for Armenian farmers and villagers to present their products to townspeople and guests of the capital”, said Maria Baraghamyan inviting everyone to take part in the 5th Harvest Festival on September 15.
The president of “Green path” NGO Nune Sarukhanyan expressing gratitude to Yerevan Municipality for permanent support and effective coopration said “the main goal of the festival is to promote development of rural communities. This year about 45 farmers groups are going to present their organic agricultural products for which I want to thank “ The Organic Agriculture Support Initiative (OASI).
The group leader of OASI program David Mukenhuber in his turn noted that they are glad to support the initiative and to present the organic agriculture in Armenia.
The UNO Fund for Gender Equality Portfolio Manager Mrs Rana El- Houjeiri who is participating in the festival for the first time congratulated the organizers and stressed that the first festival united 50 participants and this year their number has increased up to 200.
It should be noted that the 5th Harvest Festival will be held on September 15, from 11am till 5 pm in the park after Kirov.
