Yerevan Mayor Taron Margaryan together with the RA Minister of Labour and Social Affairs Artem Asatryan was present at the opening of the 21st season of the charity program «Charity kitchen» functioning in the administrative district of Kanaker Zeytun under the support of the German Red Cross. This is the second year running the social program working for 21 years has realized under co-financing of the Municipality.

Greeting the guests Mayor Taron Margryan assured once again that within its powers the Municipality is always ready to support any benevolent program of social significance.
« The Municipality attaches particular importance to social programs which can relieve the social burden of needy layers of population. As you have already noted such programs are becoming more and more targeted year by year. On the whole, 16 charity canteens are working in the capital today and about 2500 people make use of them. We are carrying out some projects in cooperation with local and international organizations. We are grateful to all these organizations, however, as the Mayor of Yerevan and an Armenian I wish we didn't need such help and I hope that one day we won't need any aid at all. But as long as there is need for help we will go on our cooperation and our policy in this direction. Taking the opportunity I want to thank once again our partners from German Red Cross and personally Mister Schaide for the shown attitude and humanism:, stressed the Mayor of Yerevan.
The representative of Baden-Wurttemberg regional division of German Red Cross Carl-Heinz Schaide in his turn thanked the Mayor of Yerevan for permanent assistance in the realization of social projects and stressed that the bilateral cooperation is really successful and effective.

«Mister Mayor, your consistence is another proof of your warm and caring treatment to our beneficiaries. It's very pleasant to see your treatment and their respect for you every time you communicate», said Carl-Heinz Schaide.

The beneficiaries of the program are about 450 needy people from Kanaker Zeytun, Erebuni and Kentron districts. About 120 beneficiaries of Kentron and Erebuni districts are served by moving centers which are allocated free of charge by the administrative districts. Presenting the Mayor the details of the program the persons in charge noted that besides hot meals once a day the beneficiaries also get social services given by the charity center «Home of Hope».
It should be noted that within the frames of «Charity kitchen» program «Home service» project has been provided since 2004. Lonely elderly people living in Kanaker Zeytun, Kentron, Arabkir and Ajapnyak who can't take care of themselves are included in it. Within the frames of this program volunteers show them necessary social and psychological aid, bring them hot meals in the months when «Charity kitchen» is working.
