A number of events are to be held in municipal museums on International Museums Day

This year the International Museum Day is traditionally marked on May 18, and the residents and guests of the capital will have the opportunity to visit free of charge the municipal Yerevan History Museum, historical and archaeological reserve-museum Erebuni, Modern Art Museum, K. Demirchyan and Fridjof Nansen museums.
At the suggestion of the International Council of Museums (ICOM) this year the theme of the International Museum Day is “Museums and contested histories: Saying the unspeakable in museums”
On May 18 the municipal community museums will work in accordance with the following schedule:
The doors of Yerevan History Museum are open for visitors from 10:00 till 18:00.
The historical and archaeological reserve-museum “Erebuni” is open from 10:30 till 16:30. At 14:00 o’clock the exhibition “Painful stories, Van: the lost capital” opens in temporary exhibition hall of Erebuni museum.«
Modern Art Museum is open for visitors from 11:00 till 18:00. The exhibition called “Features of the century” representing the graphics by the three artists from a family living in Norway.
Karen Demirchyan museum is open from 10:00 till 18:00. Besides the main exhibition the art loving public will be presented the exhibition “Museum samples are telling about the USSR. Documentary films highlighting the Soviet period will be shown.
Fridjof Nansen museum is open from 10:00 till 18:00. At 16:00 the discussion of the book by Nansen “The deceived people” will take place.

It should be noted that on May 18 the admission to the municipal museums is free.
