During the weekly working meeting in the City Hall Mayor Taron Margaryan referred to the case of illegal tree felling happened the day before in the area adjacent to Haghtanak park (Victory park). He instructed the Department of Nature Protection to take measures in accordance with the law.
“In particularly regarding this case it is unacceptable to try to explain the matter with the fact of this area being a private property. Who said that urban development programs must be fulfilled at the cost of destruction of trees. Set a rigid control so that anyone who is guilty for illegal tree felling will be subjected to the strictest punishment”, stressed Taron Margaryan assigning the Department of Nature Protection to pass the protocols related to the incident to Yerevan Department of the RA Police and Yerevan Prosecutor’s Office.
