Together with Yerevan Mayor Taron Margaryan the representatives of diplomatic missions accredited in the RA traditionally took part in the citywide tree planting scheduled for April 15. The RA Minister of Nature Protection Artsvik Minasyan participated in the action too.

This time new saplings replenished the area of 1.5 hectares adjacent to the historical sight “Karmir Blur”. Expressing gratitude to all participants joint the initiative Mayor Taron Margaryan noted that every citizen participating in tree planting expresses this way his caring attitude to Yerevan.
“Participation of the ambassadors accredited in Armenia in citywide tree planting actions has become a good tradition. I am sure that it is one of the best opportunities to strengthen friendly ties as it means that irrespectively of the nationality and citizenship Yerevan is also dear to those who temporally live in it. Taking the opportunity I express my gratitude to all townspeople and NGOs for responding our urge and joining the action”, said the Mayor of Yerevan.
All the conditions necessary for full recreation of townspeople were provided in the area adjacent to the historical sight “Karmir Blur”. Yerevan Mayor outlined that as a program priority Yerevan Municipality attaches particular importance to green areas recovery and expansion.
“This time we are carrying out tree planting in the area adjacent to “Karmir Blur” which is included in buffer zones recovery and expansion programs scheduled for 2016-2020. I'd like to note the program also involves Paros Blur area, the forest zone adjacent to Tsitsernakaberd, Haghtanak park and the park after Tatul Krpeyan, the forest zone adjacent to Hayordats Tun cultural center in Nor Nork administrative district and to Champagne Wine Factory as well as the area next to Argavand highway.
Certainly it doesn't mean that only the mentioned above areas are at the focus of our attention. I am sure that you would agree that significant and consistent work had been fulfilled to expand the green areas as a result of which during the five recent years we managed to improve and create 16 parks and to plant annually 50000 trees and bushes on the average in irrigative areas”,said the Mayor, adding that on the average the irrigation system is annually expanded by 20 km.
The ambassadors accredited in Armenia in their turn stressed that every year they gladly participate in tree planting actions in Yerevan. They also noted that this initiative is a special step aimed at strengthening the friendship between nations giving the opportunity to express the love and caring attitude for Yerevan”. Taking the opportunity Mayor Taron Margaryan once again referred to illegal tree felling happened the previous week.
“I have outlined many times that any case of illegal tree felling will be punished. There is no justification for it and the last case was simply an act of vandalism. We will see to it that the guilty will be punished in accordance with law. Everyone must realize that illegal tree felling will never be justified and will certainly be punished”, stressed Taron Margaryan.
