Yerevan Mayor Taron Margaryan was present at the opening ceremony of the Khachkar commemorating the participant of Artsakh freedom struggle Vardan Papikyan. The honour of solemn opening was given to Mayor Taron Margaryan and Vardan Papikyan’s sister-Haykuhi Papikyan.The clergy of the Armenian Apostolic Church served the blessing ritual on the spot.

The Khachkar is placed in Aram Khachatryan street of Arabkir administrative district of the capita.
Vardan Papikyan’s sister Haykuhi Papikyan expressing gratitude to the authors of the initiative noted that for their family the placement of the Khachkar is like her brother’s return as he went missing during the battles at Yeraskhavan.
It should be noted that Vardan Papikyan was one of the youngest participants of Artsakh freedom struggle who took part in the battles at Yeraskhavan in on January 18,1990 and went missing at that time.
