Yerevan is mainly new built, colourful city with peculiar architecture, with basalt, marble, onyx and tufa - built buildings. In different parts of Yerevan there are over 41 parks and boulevards. The population of Yerevan generally spends time in the parks located in the centre of Yerevan as well as in the botanical and zoological parks. Hrazdan canyon is one of the picturesque places which has an important part for ecological equilibrium. Hrazdan river flows across the canyon and stretches for 25 km. across Yerevan dividing the city into two parts. The basin of the city includes rivers Getar, Jrvej and Voghjaberd. About 400 hectare territory in the centre of Yerevan called "Dalma Gardens", has historical cultural value. On this territory the canal of Urartian Period, the traditional system of agriculture and many genetic resources of grapes are preserved. Nowadays on this territory it is intended to establish ethnic-cultural national park which will be a rest zone not only for people of Yerevan but also for tourists. In Erebuni community there is a special, preserved territory of nature, "Erebuni Reserve" where crops like cereals and wheat are preserved.
