Mayor Taron Margaryan got acquainted with the conditions at the open air market of agricultural products
The Municipality of Yerevan jointly with the RA Ministry of Agriculture two years on end on Saturdays and Sundays arranges a fair of agricultural products in the upper segment of Kasyan street. Yerevan Mayor Taron Margaryan and the RA Minister of Agriculture Sergo Karapetyan got acquainted with the conditions of the market and talked with the salespeople and the visitors of the market.
The Municipality allocated the areas to agricultural producers free of charge. RA Ministry of Agriculture provided them with pavilions, tents, scales and barrow trucks as well.
Responding to the journalists' questions Mayor Taron Margaryan noted that today certain steps were already taken towards increasing the number of places in the capital where agricultural fairs could be arranged.
"The Municipality is ready to allocate areas for such markets in all the administrative districts if the residents have a demand for them. In the near future we are going to arrange another market in Kentron district. Permanent control will be set at the market so that only producers presenting their own agricultural products could take part in the fair", said Taron Margaryan.
The Mayor stressed that this way the rural working people are given an opportunity to sell their products directly and at the same time it creates opportunity for the residents of the capital to purchase agricultural products at more available prices.
After getting acquainted with the market activity Taron Margaryan had a short visit to the area adjacent to the market, got acquainted with recreation conditions created for people and talking with elderly residents made sure that they were pleased with the improvement already made and is still to be made in the area.
Within the scope of the short visit, noting the uncared condition of the fountain dedicated to the 2750th anniversary of Yerevan Mayor Taron Margaryan instructed the head of Arabkir district to include the fountain in the annual program of fountains' restoration of the Municipality and to take definite steps towards the fountain's restoration in short terms.
