“Yerevan has a great history but it must have great present and future as well”: Hayk Marutyan

The official event and the gala concert of “Erebuni-Yerevan 2801” was held in the hall of the State Academic Theatre of Opera and Ballet after A. Spendiaryan.

The RA Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan with his wife, His Holiness All Armenian Catholicose Garegin II, the RA NA President Ararat Mirzoyan and Yerevan Mayor with their spouses, members of the Council of Elders, other officials, numerous guests were present at the official event. During the event Mayor Hayk Marutyan once again congratulating everyone on the city day summarized the activity of the city authorities for a year and presented in brief the activities implemented in various fields and upcoming programs.
Speaking about the sphere of education, particularly about kindergartens the Mayor stressed that all employees of preschools have got 20% pay rise since April. Approximately 6500 sq m of alienated areas have been returned to preschools and due to it 1000 more kids can attend kindergartens. E-system of registration has been installed in preschools as well.
“This means that the registration process is transparent and no one can jump a queue. Like everyone, I have registered my kid, who is already 2 years old”, said Hayk Marutyan.
The Mayor also added that the electronic system of registration was installed in policlinics as well and the today citizens can make an appointment with physicians from home.
It was also mentioned that budget incomes in 2019 increased by nearly 50% comparing with 2018 which is 10 milliard drams.
“We have kept our promise about direct democracy and public budget. We have put into operation the https://activecitizen.yerevan.am website. The city authorities disbursed 500 million dram for its operation. Via this website any citizen can offer a project and townspeople can vote and select the best one which will be financed and realized”, said Mayor Marutyan.
The Mayor also mentioned that in 2019 were given more permissions for construction, design and final acts that at least within the previous 3 years. 600 thousand sq m od road has been asphalted, due to savings another 100 thousand sq m will be asphalted by the end of the year.
Speaking about landscaping of the city the Mayor mentioned that a new system is being created: Yerevan will have its establishment which will be engaged in all related activities.
The tender for the pilot program for 20 elevators has been completed. The activities will start soon. The financial model of the new system of transport is ready too. Accounting activities have started in relation with the design project of a new metro station which already has an investor.
The Mayor also touched upon the problem of stray animals. The Mayor stressed that their team adopted the policy of sterilization and vaccination of animals. 2000 dogs have already been sterilized. In a few years the problem will be solved.
“You know that the process of waste removal has already been implemented by the community-owned organization which currently possess 50 trucks, but the process of purchasing snow-cleaning trucks and vacuum cleaner trucks is going on so as there will be no problems with trash. I’d like to thank townspeople for waiting patiently till the problem has been solved”, stressed Hayk Marutyan.
The Mayor also thanked the staff of the Municipality and the members of the Council of Elders for joining efforts in the work as well as the Government and the Prime Minister for support.
Then the Mayor spoke about the future of the city. The Mayor stressed that there are many landmarks of Yerevan-Opera House, Cascade, the Railway Station, Mother Armenia-depicted on the posters of this year, and there is still no landmark we have built during the last 25 years. I think the time has come to start this work. Out city has a great history but it must have great present and future as well”. Happy birthday, Yerevan!” said the Mayor.
The RA Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan also made a congratulatory speech in which has particularly said,
“ This is a really splendid festival for all of us and it has been accompanied us for many years. “Erebuni-Yerevan” celebration, the birthday of our Yerevan is one of the most beloved holidays of our people, and I won’t be mistaken if I say that Yerevan is our most beloved city. There is a definite reason for it: each stone of each building of Yerevan contains a particle of our national dreams. We love Yerevan and Yerevan loves us. This is the reason why we always want to come back here wherever we go, We want to return and again pass the way started 2801 years ago and will still last for centuries”, said Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan.
During the gala concert the audience enjoyed the performance of the national Academic Chair led by Hovhannes Chekijyan and the State Symphonic Orchestra of Armenia led by Sergey Smbatyan. The compositions by Khachaturyan, Babajanyan, Mansuryan and other composers were performed.
