Yerevan Mayor Hayk Marutyan introduced the newly appointed head of Ajapnyak administrative district Sasun Mkrtumyan to the staff of the district. In his speech Mayor Marutyan thanked the former head of the district Hayk Mhryan and the staff for the work done and noted that he expected fruitful activity with the new head. The Mayor attached particular importance to systematic struggle against illegal constructions.

“Unfortunately, some citizens made use of the situation created in the capital after the war, and following their own interests tried to start illegal constructions. I’d like to mention that the administrative district in the person of Mr Mhryan had struggled a lot against illegalities and 34 illegal constructions were dismantled during the last few months, 60 protocols had been drawn up. Centralized subdivisions of the Municipality had worked as well. However the number of illegalities was so big and there are certain gaps in the legislation so we had to use so-called “heavy artillery”. The process will be continued in all administrative districts until the rooted problems have been settled”, noted the Mayor and thanked the police for the support.

Touching upon the existing problems and programs to be implemented Mayor Marutyan noted that any action of the city authorities must serve the interests of Yerevan and its townspeople.
“During the last two years and a half there is only one interest for me and it is public interest, the interest of Yerevan and its dwellers. No other interest is possible except for the interest of Yerevan. During these two years and a half I proved that no one can turn to me with any request if it serves only their interest and is not in the interest of Yerevan dwellers. Thus, I expect you to follow only this principle. I support any actions if they serve the interests of Yerevan. And it refers not only to Ajapnyak but to Yerevan in general”, stressed the Mayor.
