Yerevan Deputy Mayor Sergey Nerseyan met the working group of EP “Covenant of Mayors East” program. The parties discussed the issues related to activities involved in “Green city” program comprised by Yerevan Sustainable Energy Action Plan.
The program aims to boost economic and social growth of Yerevan, to relieve the negative impact of human activity on the environment, to increase the quality of nature protection assets thus guaranteeing the improvement of quality the population’s life.
Stressing the importance of cooperation with international structures Deputy Mayor Sergey Nersesyan noted that the Municipality is open and willing to fulfil any project aimed at Yerevan development and convenience of its population.
The head of the working group of the EU-funded “Covenant of Mayors East” program Christophe Frering marked that the successful cooperation can serve a good ground for the implementation of new projects.
“EU4Yerevan Solar Community” grant program and Yerevan Energy Efficiency Program are in their implementation stage. The program includes installation of solar photovoltaic systems on the roofs of 90 blocks of flats providing this way energy supply of the elevators, illumination of inside staircases, common areas and yard areas of these buildings. Besides it is planned to install LED lamps in porches and yard areas.
