By the instruction of Yerevan Mayor Taron Margaryan the first meeting of Yerevan city commission for people with disabilities has been held today. The meeting was chaired b the First Deputy Mayor Kamo Areyan. The heads of a number of subdivisions and social divisions of administrative districts of Yerevan, the representative of the Road Police,members and chairmen of NGOs as well as the chairman and deputy chairman of the commission for social issues, culture and education of Yerevan Council of Elders took part in the meeting. Wishing those present a Happy New Year and Merry Christmas the chairman of the commission, the First Deputy Mayor Kamo Areyan wished the members of the commission fruitful activity during the current year.

By the first item of the agenda the report was made on the activity of the commission for people with disabilities in 2017. The chairman of the commission mentioned that in 2017 all the programs outlined by the community budget had been implemented except for the program of equipping some more buses with elevators for people with locomotor disabilities. This program will be fulfilled in 2018. It was also mentioned that providing the movement availability for people with locomotor disabilities while carrying out urban development projects is an obligatory condition. The report made was accepted unanimously by the members of the commission.
The second item of the agenda referred to the activity of the commission in 2018. Deputy Mayor Kamo Areyan announced on behalf of Mayor Taron Margaryan that in 2018 the programs being carried out jointly with the commission will be continued. This year people with disabilities and their families will be involved in the programs of social educational and health care spheres. It was instructed to increase the inclusion of disabled people in citywide cultural and sport events as well as to activate the cooperation with NGOs. The program of Yerevan city commission for people with disabilities provided for 2018 has been confirmed unanimously and will be submitted to Yerevan Mayor’s confirmation.
