The 19th international film festival “Golden Apricot” is going to be held on July 10-17 in Yerevan. This year Yerevan Municipality has become the general sponsor of the festival for the first time.
At the press conference held prior to the “Golden Apricot” the First Deputy Mayor Levon Hovhannisyan stressed the importance of the film festival and the active participation of the city authorities.
“Golden Apricot” plays a particular role in the cultural life of the capital. For the first time Yerevan Municipality comes up as the general partner of the event. Several months ago we joined efforts with the Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sport to boost cultural and other programs in the capital city”, said Levon Hovhannisyan.
“During our meetings with the colleagues from Yerevan Municipality we arranged to combine our possibilities to activate our cultural policy. This is our first big interaction which will bring to new perspectives”, marked the RA Deputy Minister of ESCS Ara Khzmalyan.
“I hope, the new format of cooperation with Yerevan Municipality will be continued. Actually, it is voluminous and serious job. Due to the Municipality the Stars of Honour at Charles Aznavour square have been renewed”, said the general director of the festival Harutyun Khachatryan.
About 100 films are to be shown during the festival. Films from the most prestigious film festivals are included in the show list. The art director of the festival Karen Avanesyan gave some details of the upcoming festival. “Golden Apricot” will have three competition days. The President of the Jury of the international competition of full-length films is the Irish screenwriter, the Oscar awardee, film director Terry George. Many foreign art figures will arrive in Yerevan to participate in the special festival. The 19th film festival “Golden Apricot” starts and is over with the works by Armenian authors.
