Unregistered shops on wheels are removed

08.07.2021

“The shops on wheels we have today in the capital are unacceptable. I urge and warn our economy entities that it won’t stay this way. If there are people who want to invest into this field they should be sure that it will be regulated”, stressed Mayor Hayk Maruyan.

Shops on wheels have been a problem in the capital particularly in the city centre and busy street. As it had been planned before, this sphere got legal regulation at the beginning of this year.
According to the head of Yerevan Municipality Department of Trade and Services Hovik Safaryan, the law also includes sanctions for those who prefer working illegally, who park the shops on wheels in the areas not provided for it or work without permission. Such trading on wheels will be prohibited and the trailers will be evacuated.
The Council of Elders of Yerevan allotted special areas for trading on wheels and to run a business in this sphere it is necessary to get registered at arevtur.yerevan.am.

There are 52 areas in Yerevan provided for trading on wheels. This number will later increase. All proper conditions will be created in these areas for economy entities. A system of e-registration has been created which is the first such system in the former CIS countries, so there is no paperwork at all. People have to get the permission once for the whole year.
However, some economy entities carry on breaking the law and working in non-suitable areas. In such cases the approach is firm: the trailers are dismantled.
The fine for the first time violation is 100 thousand drams, for the second violation – 500 thousand drams plus 30 thousand drams for evacuation and 1000 drams daily for keeping the vehicle. In other words, those who make violations will have significant financial loss.
The initiatives carried out by the city authorities to make legislative improvements will be continued.
