The issues related to the celebration of Yerevan's day were discussed during the working meeting held by Yerevan Mayor Taron Margaryan. In particular, the Mayor drew attention of the working group to the fact that this year the celebration is expected to be more modest.” It is known that in this may we re-considered the scheme of allocation of Yerevan budget funds of 2016 anticipated for cultural events. Due to this reconsideration we were able to show corresponding assistance to the families of servicemen from Yerevan fallen, injured or disabled at the front line at the beginning of this April. At that that I outlined that reconsideration of the budget was mainly carried out at the cost of the funds anticipated for “Erebuni-Yerevan” celebration. Consequently, the events dedicated to the city day are expected to be more modest. Instead of two-day celebration the events are to be held only on October 8. Moreover, the program of events won't include the traditional concert in Republic square and the parade held in front of the City Hall. However, the social component of the program will be completely fulfilled. Within the frames of this already traditional action 2798 families will get presents. As regards the celebration itself we must do our best to provide festive mood of our citizens and the guests of the capital”, said Mayor Taron Margaryan.

The head of the Department of Social Welfare Ruzanna Zakaryan reported to the Mayor that the working group had already made the list of the families to be included in social support program within the frames of “Erebuni-Yerevan 2798” events. The Mayor also instructed to arrange the program of the servicemen parents' visit to the frontier military units to visit their sons serving there. This program included in “Erebuni-Yerevan” events will be held in October.
The coordinator of the working group, Deputy Mayor of Yerevan Aram Sukiasyan was instructed to present in details the program of “Erebuni-Yerevan” events during the press-conference scheduled for  September 26.
