The festive procession reached Republic square accompanied by Mayor Taron Margaryan, the delegations invited to take part in the celebration, newly-awarded honorary citizens, members of the Council of Elders and numerous townspeople. A choreographic performance called «Our old and new Yerevan» with the participation of 60 artists: actors, acrobats,equilibrists was shown in the square. It represented the spiritual history of Armenia from paganism till Christianity, and to the present-day Yerevan.
At the end of the event a call for peace on behalf of the symbolic king Argishti in collective image of all Armenian kings and leaders, under the flags of the 12 Armenian capitals was addressed to the capitals of the world. This call particularly said, «We-the inhabitants of the ancient city Yerevan, descendants of those who has created a capital city out a fortress and done everything for its prosperity, being led by the gene of peaceableness of our ancestors, standing on the edge between war and peace, and realizing the infirmness and importance of peace and being Messengers of Peace, herewith urge the entire world- to say NO to war !

The only past, in which we can still change anything is today- each passing second of precious life.

On the 12th of October, 2014, celebrating the 2796-th anniversary of Yerevan, we call for replacing the thunder of war with peaceful silence. May it be interrupted only with the cry of a newborn baby-the most powerful sound against war !

The Mayor Taron Margaryan signed the Peace address on behalf of the residents of Yerevan which will reach all the capitals of the world through the Messengers of Peace of the World Scout Movement. By the way, the International Scout Movement has 40 million members worldwide and each of them carries out the mission of a Messenger of Peace. The action was followed by the festive concert.
